WILTON, NH — The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner has officially identified the woman who died following a residential fire on Burns Hill Road. Authorities confirmed the deceased is 69-year-old Linda A. Anfuso of Wilton.

The incident occurred on the morning of Wednesday, March 4, 2026, when the Wilton Fire Department responded to a report of a home filling with smoke. Upon arrival, first responders found the single-family residence actively on fire with two occupants trapped on the second floor. Firefighters entered the building and transitioned both residents to safety.

Anfuso was transported to Elliott Hospital suffering from significant smoke inhalation, where she was later pronounced deceased. The medical examiner has ruled the death accidental, citing smoke inhalation as the cause.

A second victim, a 70-year-old male, remains hospitalized in critical condition. His identity has not yet been released.

The investigation into the origin and cause of the fire is being led by the New Hampshire State Fire Marshal’s Office. While the fire is not considered suspicious, investigators are looking into whether a local power outage at the time of the incident played a factor in the blaze.
