QUINCY, IL — Authorities have officially identified the man found deceased following an investigation at the intersection of 8th and State streets. Adams County Coroner Scott Graham has identified the victim as 67-year-old Thomas J. Miller of Quincy.
The investigation began on the morning of Thursday, March 5, 2026, after emergency responders were dispatched to the scene. Miller was pronounced dead at the location.
While the specific circumstances surrounding his death remain under investigation by the Quincy Police Department and the Adams County Coroner’s Office, Coroner Graham stated that an autopsy is scheduled to determine the exact cause of death. At this time, officials have not released information regarding potential foul play, but they have reiterated that there is no ongoing threat to the community.
The area around 8th and State, which was cordoned off for several hours this morning for processing, has since been reopened to traffic.
