Authorities Investigate Fatal Multi-Vehicle Collision in Yuma County

YUMA COUNTY, AZ — The Yuma County Sheriff’s Office (YCSO) and Arizona Department of Public Safety are investigating a tragic multi-vehicle accident that occurred on Sunday afternoon, March 1, 2026. The collision has resulted in at least one confirmed fatality.

The accident took place shortly after 3:30 p.m. in the area of Highway 95 and Avenue 9E, a busy intersection known for high traffic volumes.

Details of the Incident

The Collision: Preliminary reports indicate that three vehicles were involved in the crash. Investigators believe a sedan traveling northbound collided with an SUV, which then struck a third stationary vehicle.

The Victim: Emergency responders arrived to find one individual with life-threatening injuries. Despite immediate medical intervention, the victim was pronounced dead at the scene. Their identity is currently being withheld pending notification of next of kin.

Injuries: Two other individuals involved in the crash were transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Investigation and Road Closures The intersection remained closed for several hours on Sunday evening as the YCSO Critical Accident Reconstruction Team (CART) worked to determine the cause of the crash.
