Third Victim Identified in Pawtucket Hockey Arena Shooting; Victims Named in Separate Cranston Homicide

PAWTUCKET/CRANSTON, RI — Authorities have confirmed that a third victim has passed away following the February 16, 2026, mass shooting at the Dennis M. Lynch Arena in Pawtucket. The announcement comes as Rhode Island law enforcement continues to navigate a week marked by separate, high-profile violent incidents.

Update: Pawtucket Hockey Rink Shooting

Pawtucket police identified the third deceased victim as Gerald Dorgan, who had been in critical condition since the attack during a high school senior night hockey game.

The Victims: Gerald Dorgan was the father-in-law of the shooter. The two other victims killed on the day of the attack were identified as Rhonda Dorgan (the shooter’s ex-wife) and Aidan Dorgan (the shooter’s 21-year-old son).

The Attack: The shooter, identified as 56-year-old Robert Dorgan (who also went by Roberta Dorgano), opened fire on their own family members in the stands before turning the gun on themselves.

Survival and Heroism: Two others, including Rhonda’s mother and a family friend, were injured but survived. Witnesses and police have credited several bystanders who physically intervened to subdue the shooter, likely preventing further loss of life.

Update: Cranston Homicide Victim Identified

In a separate incident that occurred on the evening of February 26, Cranston police have identified the man killed at his home on Legion Way as 35-year-old Javon Lawson.

Targeted Attack: Police believe Lawson was specifically targeted over a personal dispute involving a mutual acquaintance. He was shot multiple times after answering his front door.

The Suspect: The suspect, 28-year-old Demitri Sousa, fled the scene and was later involved in a catastrophic car crash in Swansea, Massachusetts, which killed two additional people in another vehicle. Sousa is currently under police guard in a hospital and faces murder charges.
